Keeping energy costs simple
We formed Apex Energy to breathe new innovative thinking into the stale Australian energy market.
This includes eliminating charges we see in the industry which we consider excessive, hidden or sneaky. We keep our costs simple and clear so you can avoid unnecessary charges.
Here’s how Apex Energy is different:
- We waive greedy fees such as credit card surcharges, postal bill, account setup and connection fees.
- We replace peak and off peak with one easy-to-follow tariff
- We charge fees only when a payment default takes place that we can’t commercially absorb ie it is passed onto us by a supplier or vendor
- we pass on supplier charges without a mark-up for meter reading
- we do not charge a contract termination fee. We believe you are free to choose and opt in or out as you please.
- If a default takes place we contact you to offer payment terms or alternatives for hardship
The supply, use and monitoring of energy is expensive and complex with significant infrastructure such as poles, wires and cables. When life gets you tangled up and payment defaults occur you will receive a fee for these following fees. Note: All fees shown below include GST.
Disconnection
$10 incl GST
If your bill balance is overdue and we cannot reach you we send a disconnection form. Five days after the notice date, the account is closed and we arrange a final meter reading and for electricity supply to be disconnected. The disconnection fee is charged to the final bill
NOTE: If a default takes place we contact you to offer payment terms or alternatives for hardship
Reconnection^
$10 incl GST
When a disconnected account has been paid and is in good credit standing, we reconnect the electricity supply for a ‘standard’ meter within two business days during normal business hours.
On the first invoice for reconnected supply, the reconnection fee will be appear
Dishonour fees
Cheque or Direct Debit $ 10 incl gst
We charge fees only when a payment default takes place that we can’t commercially absorb. For example fees are passed onto us by a supplier or vendor such as a ban.
Direct debit $2.50 incl GST
Cheque dishonor fee $5.00 incl GST
Special Meter Read Fee^

Most of our smart meters allow us to remotely read your meter so no fee applies.
If an unscheduled manual meter reading requires a call-out we pass the charge through without a mark-up.
Metering Investigation^

Most of our smart meters allow us to remotely read your meter so no fee applies.
However if a customer requests a manual meter test and no fault is found with the meter, a fee may apply for the technician’s time.
Service Technician Fee^

If an unscheduled manual meter reading requires a call-out from a technician and the fault is found to be within a customer’s control, a fee may apply for the technician’s time.
For example if the customer’s switchboard circuit-breaker trips.
^ Fees can increase for work required outside normal business hours 08:30 – 17:00 by up to 20%
