Apex receives approval for Illawarra Exploration Project

Apex Energy NL received Part 3A approval from the Department of Planning on the 23rd September 2009 for a 15 well exploration project in the Illawarra region. The wells are planned to be drilled around the Darkes Forest area. The planned wells will include exploration core wells and wells drilled directly into abandoned coal mines. The granting of the approval followed an exhaustive consultation process with a list of Government Departments, local and wider groups and individuals and Apex is confident that good local relationships will be maintained and improved during the carrying out of the drilling program. The program will identify and quantify valuable gas reserves needed to complement NSW's energy requirements. There is no shortage of potential customers in the area with a number of existing and planned gas fired power stations and other consumers in close proximity to the planned wells.
